Gent is filled with great bars and restaurants, and many are not easy to find if no one tells you about it. Multatuli is a hidden gem. The residence is owned by the Van Crombrugghe Society (a pluralistic Flemish-liberal socio-cultural organisation). In 1867 and 1869 the society invited Eduars Douwes Dekker (Multatuli), the writer of the book Max Havelaar, pleading for better working conditions in the Dutch East Indies and fair trade.
And of course they have a lot of beers, among others the popular La Chouffe. Dinner with Claires parents visiting from Vancouver.
